The National Association of Home Builders recently conducted a survey that found 62% of millennial homebuyers preferred homes with granite or natural stone countertops. Luxury natural stone is spiking in popularity and now is one of the best times to think about adding it to your kitchen. To help give you an idea of the types of natural stone countertops that everyone is after, here are three to keep in mind.

1. Marble

Marble is a luxury natural stone that is in high demand. With a timeless, elegant appearance, marble is one of the most popular choices for countertops, and it is something that many homebuyers desire. However, while many people swear by marble countertops, they can have some downsides that you need to know about. For instance, it does need regular sealing to ensure that it maintains it’s elegant appearance, and it can be more vulnerable to scratching and staining than some other varieties.

2. Quartz

When thinking about luxury natural stone, you can’t forget about quartz. Quartz is available in a wider variety of colors than marble, but still possesses a smooth, elegant appearance when installed. One of the biggest benefits of quartz is that it isn’t porous like other natural stones, so it is more resistant to scratches, stains, and heat damage. It is also quite easy to maintain and doesn’t require sealing as marble does. For both functionality and style, quartz is definitely something to keep in mind.

3. Granite

You’d be remiss to not mention granite when talking about luxury natural stones as it is one of the most popular and well known countertop materials. Granite has long enjoyed its impressive popularity among homeowners and homebuyers alike, and this doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon. Incredibly sturdy and available in a wide array of colors, granite countertops are one material that can provide a lot of bang for your buck. It is also much more cost-effective than some other luxury natural stone varieties, and the only true downside is that it is porous. This means that it will need resealing and regular cleaning. However, despite this, granite remains one of the most sought after countertop materials on the market.

If you are considering replacing your countertops with luxury natural stone, these are three of the most popular that you should consider. While they all have their benefits, the one you choose will depend on the style you enjoy most, as well as the colors you need.
