Kitchens are the central hub of your home. Your kitchen is also one of the first rooms in your home that you may consider remodeling. However, since it’s used so often, the kitchen often suffers a large amount of wear and tear. If you are thinking about upgrading your kitchen counters, consider these natural stone slab options.

Quartzite

When you are considering a natural stone slab, think about quartzite. It’s not the same as quartz. Quartzite is a stone that occurs naturally. It’s durable and beautiful, similar to granite. This is an excellent balance between the durability of granite and the look of marble. This natural stone slab occurs when quartz sandstone meets extreme temperate and pressure. As a result, it will not chip, stain, or scratch.

Granite

If you enjoy the look of a natural stone slab, granite is an ideal choice. According to the National Association of Home Builders, they took a recent survey that found 62% of millennial homebuyers prefer granite or natural stone countertops. Granite is a unique combination of quartz and feldspar while under pressure and high temperatures below the earth’s surface. This is what gives granite a speckled appearance. It will not scratch, stain, retain heat marks, or dent. However, it does need to be sealed once a year.

Marble

Marble is the premium natural stone slab that is used in countertops, backsplashes, and floors. Marble comes in several colors and swirls. It contains many natural impurities that are heated in the stone. Marble does require a high amount of maintenance compared to other natural stone surfaces. It’s softer and more porous making it more likely to stain, chip, or scratch. It must be appropriately sealed.

Dolomite

While dolomite is not one of the more common natural stone slab options, it’s durable and beautiful. It is created when magnesium-rich water combines with limestone and then creates a chemical reaction. These slabs usually come in shades of white and gray. Dolomite gives any kitchen a modern and clean look.

A few natural stone slab options are available to you when you want to remodel your kitchen. Each option has its own qualities making one the best option for you.
